Conway, AR – The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) is now a member of the Next Generation Service Corps (NextGen Service), a prestigious nationwide network dedicated to shaping future leaders in public service. This partnership with the Volcker Alliance marks a significant step forward in UCA’s commitment to fostering civic engagement and preparing its undergraduate students for careers that serve the greater good.

NextGen Service is a collaborative initiative bringing together universities and colleges across the country to enhance undergraduate education by focusing on the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for effective public service. By joining this network, UCA gains access to a wealth of resources, best practices, and collaborative opportunities designed to strengthen its curriculum and provide students with invaluable practical experiences.

The Volcker Alliance, a nonpartisan organization focused on effective government, established NextGen Service to address the growing need for skilled and dedicated individuals in the public sector. The program aims to cultivate a new generation of leaders equipped to tackle complex societal challenges and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

What does this mean for UCA students? The partnership will offer enhanced opportunities for internships, mentorship programs, and real-world projects focused on public service. Students will benefit from a curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, ethical leadership, and effective communication – all essential skills for success in government, non-profit organizations, and other public-facing roles.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Next Generation Service Corps,” said a UCA representative. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them not only for successful careers but also for active and responsible citizenship. We believe that UCA students have the potential to make a real difference in the world, and NextGen Service will provide them with the tools and support they need to do so.”

The NextGen Service network fosters collaboration among its member institutions, allowing them to share innovative teaching methods, program designs, and experiential learning opportunities. This collaborative environment will enable UCA to continuously improve its public service offerings and provide its students with the best possible preparation for impactful careers. The University of Central Arkansas looks forward to working with the Volcker Alliance and fellow NextGen Service members to cultivate a new generation of dedicated public servants.
