AS a former Love Islander and daughter of one of Britain’s best-known actors, Dani Dyer realises Strictly viewers will be hoping her time on the show will be filled with drama. In a recent interview, the reality TV star revealed her surprise at being approached to join the popular BBC dancing competition and shared her determination to avoid the so-called "Strictly curse."
Dyer admitted she was "shocked" when the offer came, having never seriously considered herself a contender for the ballroom. "Honestly, when I got the call, I think I nearly choked on my tea," she laughed. "I've always loved watching Strictly, but I never imagined myself actually being on it. It's completely outside my comfort zone, which is probably why I said yes!"
The "Strictly curse," a media term referring to the supposed tendency for relationships to break down among contestants and professional dancers on the show, is something Dyer is acutely aware of. Given her public profile and past experiences, she understands the media scrutiny will be intense.
"Of course, I've heard all about the 'Strictly curse,' and I know people will be watching," Dyer acknowledged. "But I'm really happy in my relationship, and I trust my partner completely. I think the key is communication and just being honest with each other. We're both very supportive of each other's careers, and we know this is just a job."
Dyer emphasized that her focus is solely on learning to dance and enjoying the experience. "I'm not going on Strictly to find romance; I'm going to learn to waltz! I'm really excited to challenge myself, meet new people, and hopefully, entertain the viewers. I want to make my family proud, and maybe even surprise myself with what I can achieve."
She added that her father, actor Danny Dyer, is "over the moon" about her participation. "He's already planning his outfits for the live shows," she joked. "He's my biggest supporter, although I think he's more excited about meeting the judges than watching me dance!"
Dyer is ready to embrace the challenge and prove that she can navigate the glitter and glamour of Strictly Come Dancing without falling prey to the infamous curse. Her fans are eagerly anticipating her debut on the dance floor, ready to see if she can cha-cha her way to success.
