Kraken Robotics Inc., a leading innovator in marine technology, has announced the appointment of BlueZone Group as its authorized reseller for Australia and New Zealand. This strategic partnership will see BlueZone Group responsible for the sales and support of Kraken's advanced Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) technology, including the KATFISH towed SAS platform, in the region.
The move builds upon an already successful collaboration between the two companies. Earlier this year, Kraken partnered with BlueZone Group to provide crucial servicing for the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) KATFISH system and its ISO20 Launch and Recovery System (LARS) aboard HMAS Leeuwin. The KATFISH system is now fully operational, managed by the RAN's Hydrographic Service.
The strength of this partnership was further demonstrated when Kraken and BlueZone jointly completed the first Depot-Level Maintenance service on the RAN's KATFISH towed SAS system in less than a month. This rapid turnaround highlighted the significant benefits of having in-country support capabilities.
Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken Robotics, emphasized the importance of local partnerships in supporting critical naval operations. "Kraken's technologies are deployed globally, and strong local partnerships are essential to our success," he stated. "Our collaboration with BlueZone Group enhances regional support across Australia and New Zealand, enabling increased access to our advanced SAS systems for mine countermeasure operations, critical underwater infrastructure inspection, and other survey needs."
BlueZone Group also expressed enthusiasm about the expanded relationship. Andrew Hazell, General Manager Defence at BlueZone Group, noted that the agreement marks a significant step in their commitment to supporting advanced maritime technologies. "By becoming Kraken's authorized reseller, BlueZone Group reinforces its commitment to delivering sovereign capability in the operation and support of hydrographic and oceanographic equipment," said Hazell. "This ensures the Australian Defence Force maintains the tools it needs to safeguard our maritime interests and protect critical shipping lanes."
The partnership promises to bring Kraken's cutting-edge SAS technology closer to customers in Australia and New Zealand, offering enhanced support and enabling more effective underwater operations in the region.
